Newborn sessions are best done within the baby’s first 5 to 10 days of birth.  A big reason for that is that babies are more alert everyday and it make it a lot more difficult to pose them.  When baby Lincoln’s mom first contacted me, Lincoln was already 3 weeks old, and we ended up photographing him when he was 23 days old.  I thought I was going to have to work a lot harder to make this session work, but baby Lincoln was a superstar.  He pretty much slept through our entire session (with a few meal breaks in-between, of course :)).  Thank you, Lincoln!!

Isn’t she beautiful?!  Baby Sasha is such a beautiful little baby girl!  Take a look at her parents and you will know whom she got her great looks from!  I had a good time photographing everyone.  Their home had lovely natural light.  I wish good natural light is always available to me, lol.

Meet baby Oceana, everyone!  Oceana is my youngest and one of the sleepiest newborns I have photographed – she was only 5 days old!  Oceana’s dad and I were co-workers for years, and I was really excited when he asked me to photograph their newest addition to their lovely family!  Oceana slept like a dream and we were lucky enough to get a great shot with her older brother together as well!

Baby Heidi was born over a week after her due date.  We were going to have her newborn shoot on Christmas Eve.  However, when I got up that morning, the sky was all gray!  Since I shoot only with natural light, I immediately called baby Heidi’s mom and asked her if she was available  and if we could have the shoot the next day instead because I wanted to give them the best photos possible.  Luckily, Heidi’s parents were fine with the last minute change and I ended up photographing Heidi on Christmas Day!  I am so glad we rescheduled because the light was much much better and baby Heidi pretty much slept through the entire shoot.  It was the best Christmas present a newborn photographer could ask for.
